(Kuala Terengganu, 9th) – Drivers spotted an adult elephant today at the 272.5 km mark of the Second East Coast Expressway (LPT2), near the Ajil toll exit.
According to a video shared by a man on social media, the elephant is believed to have emerged from a nearby oil palm plantation.
A social media user with the handle @@izak82 mentioned that the elephant was suspected to be separated from its herd and was attempting to cross the highway.
“That elephant is huge! It got separated from its herd, which originally had more than 20 elephants. Luckily, it didn’t attack anyone,” the user wrote.
The post sparked widespread discussion online, with many people expressing excitement and even sharing their own experiences of encountering elephant herds.
“This is my hometown – they were here in a large group not long ago,” one commenter wrote.
“Looks like Ajil has a zoo now,” another joked.
“This is dangerous! Vehicles on LPT2 drive at very high speeds, unlike on other highways,” a user named @@Nor Fakhrul warned.
