Kuala Lumpur, 11 April –
A heavy rainstorm in the early hours of the morning caused sudden flash floods in several areas of Puchong, with one of the worst-hit locations being the Kai Hei City Apartments. Floodwaters quickly submerged main roads, rising to the height of car tires and stranding vehicles overnight.
The rain began around 2 a.m. and lasted for several hours, transforming parts of Puchong into temporary lakes. Social media lit up with videos and photos shared by residents, many expressing shock and frustration. One user dramatically compared the thunderstorm to “the heavens exploding in rage.”
Footage posted in local Facebook groups shows cars half-submerged near Kai Hei City, with flood levels still high as of 8:20 a.m. Some netizens even joked about using boats instead of cars to get around.
Major traffic disruptions followed, especially along the stretch between the Puchong Barat Toll and USJ, where flooding forced many drivers to park along the roadside, causing massive congestion by early morning.
Other flood-hit spots included Jalan Super 7 and Taman Mas Puchong. The floods also affected daily routines — some students were reportedly unable to attend school due to impassable roads and flooded neighborhoods.
Authorities have yet to issue a full statement, but residents are calling for urgent drainage improvements and better flood prevention measures in the area.
