Indonesia Set to Lift iPhone 16 Sales Ban Following Agreement with Apple
(Jakarta, 25th) – According to Bloomberg, Indonesia and Apple have reached a consensus on lifting the ban on iPhone 16 sales, with an official agreement potentially being signed as early as this week.
The ban, imposed in October last year, stemmed from Apple’s failure to meet Indonesia’s regulation requiring at least 35% of smartphone components to be locally sourced.
In response, Indonesia’s Investment Minister revealed that Apple intends to invest $1 billion in establishing a facility to manufacture components for smartphones and other products.
Alongside this investment, Apple has committed to training local talent in product development. However, the company reportedly has no immediate plans to manufacture iPhones in Indonesia.
