(Sepang, 6th) – The Mayor of Subang Jaya, Dato' Amirul Azizan, confirmed today that prior to the gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights, the municipal council had received complaints from local residents regarding excavation activities above the pipeline. In response to these complaints, the council promptly sent a team to investigate the situation, and their findings confirmed that the excavation work was authorized by the government.
In a press briefing held this afternoon, alongside the Selangor state police chief, Dato' Hussein, Amirul Azizan acknowledged that the complaints had been duly received by the municipal council, which took immediate action to follow up. He explained that after conducting an investigation, the council found that all contractors involved had obtained the necessary permits for the work.
“We will be informing the residents that the contractors did have the proper approvals,” he stated.
Moreover, Dato' Hussein clarified that the police had not received any direct complaints about the excavation activities prior to the explosion. All concerns related to the work had been dealt with by the municipal council, which was responsible for verifying the complaints and ensuring that the work complied with legal requirements.
