Sea Turtle Carcass Found Near "Rock Turtle Mural"

(Kuantan, 10th) Visitors to Pantai Pelindung in Kuantan, who came to see the popular "Giant Sea Turtle Rock Mural," were startled to find a dead sea turtle nearby.

Mr. Lin, a 36-year-old local resident, shared that he arrived at the beach around noon. While walking along the shoreline toward the mural’s location, he unexpectedly came across the turtle’s remains.

"From afar, I thought it was a newly added small turtle painting on the beach. But as I got closer, I realized it was actually a sea turtle carcass," he explained.

This marked Mr. Lin’s second visit to Pantai Pelindung, and he did not expect to make such a grim discovery.

He described the turtle as medium-sized, roughly equivalent to two pillows. When he found it, the carcass was already decomposing and emitting a strong odor. Although no obvious wounds were visible, he noticed that the turtle’s right-side face was pressed against the ground, with one of its eyes missing.

Since it was a Sunday and the beach was bustling with visitors, other tourists also spotted the sea turtle’s remains.
