Bangkok is bracing for its coldest weather in nearly four decades, with temperatures expected to drop to 16°C on January 12 and 13. Northern and northeastern regions of Thailand are forecasted to experience even chillier conditions, with lows of 12°C.

- Bangkok and Surrounding Areas:
- Average temperatures will dip to 21°C, with lows reaching 16°C on Sunday and Monday.
- Northern and Northeastern Provinces:
- Temperatures are expected to drop to 12°C across 13 northern and 6 northeastern provinces.
Supharak Khawatkul, director of Rangsit University's Climate Change and Disaster Center, shared the forecast on Facebook, urging residents to prepare both physically and mentally for the unusually cold weather and strong winds.
Rare Weather Phenomenon
According to The Bangkok Post, this could be the last time Bangkok experiences such chilly weather due to global warming trends. Supharak warned that while the cool season may feel refreshing, it could also bring harmful dust pollution from burning and other sources.
Official Announcements
The Thai Meteorological Department confirmed that:
- From January 10 to 13, northern and northeastern regions will see a 5–7°C temperature drop, while Bangkok and nearby provinces will experience a 2–5°C drop.
